SUMMER PLEASURES

Hubby and I decided that it was time to have some fun.

We live in a scenic area on the beautiful Hudson River.
Not too far from us is a diners paradise, and what is
nicer than to sit in the shade at a great restaurant.

Before we had our delicious lunch, we strolled around
and enjoyed the scenery.

You can take a little cruise on this boat up the Hudson.
We will try that another time.

I love all the ducks. They seem very happy here.

It looks funny to see things growing out
of these pilings.

It was not easy to pick the restaurant with so much to choose.
We made a great choice and enjoyed a wonderful meal.

The sight of the boats was so relaxing.
We just kept watching the goings-on on the river.
On the weekend it is very crowded and you don't have time
to enjoy it all.

So the weekday prooved perfect.

It was fun to see all the boats go by on
this very hot day.

Right at this moment I could have been happy to own
any of theses boats.

A girl can dream........

These ducks had the right idea......just chill out!

She ....... or maybe he....... looks content.......
just like us two birds.

After lunch we looked at some of these lovely murals.
They looked so real....it felt es if you could touch the people.

Whoever painted these, did a wonderful job.
So much detail.

Hope you had fun coming along.

God bless,
Evi

TIME TO UNWIND

Hooray, my favorite magazine arrived.
I started to read the introduction page.
The editors were writing about how it is important
to take time to enjoy the simple things,
time to relax.
And so I had my aha-moment.
I seem to be in constant motion with all that goes
with a household.......family, garden and doll making...
Time out to relax !!!!!

Since we had just celebrated my girlfriend
Debbie's birthday, there was cake in the house.
I decided to take it, a cup of tea and the
magazines to one of my favorite spots.
Lets make it special I thought....
pillows and tablecloth....just for me.

I love the pillows, since I love gardening.

This pretty cup holds wonderful memories.
It was my Dad's most loved cup.
It is quite old and the porcelain is very thin.
He insisted the coffee tasted best out of this cup.
So what more could a girl want, her Dad's beloved cup,
a nice slice of cake and her favorite read.

Behind me bees swarmed around the hydrangeas.

I loved this time alone.

Oops, thought I changed that, oh well, you get
the picture.

This issue had beautiful garden pictures....
and, how funny, bathroom pictures.
That after we just did ours.
Oh well, love mine just as much!

The next time....and there will be a next time...
I will pick another pretty spot.
Maybe this one.......

or the bench on the deck.......

or the chaise in the porch......

but this I know, I will make time again.

To everyone who has left me such nice comments
and has not heard from me, I am having computer
problems....some comments seem to go out, others not.

I am sorry, I am thinking of you!
Waiting for my computer guy to bail me out .....again!

God bless,
Evi

A SON'S UNEXPECTED GIFT....

After a long hiatus, which lasted from spring to summer,
I am back.

I am sorry for the long absence.
These nearly 3 months have been a whirlwind
and all things "computer" had to take a back seat.

As of yesterday, we are totally finished with the bathroom.
Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!

This remodel was fraught with so many unexpected things.

After 4 1/2 days the carpenter walked off the job,
leaving us stranded.

Thank God that our son is truly gifted with all things
concerning carpentry....and no, this is not his profession.

He jumped in and literally saved our sanity!!!!!!

Taking a look back at how the bathroom was,
shows just how much there was to do.

Oh, that "lovely" 1960 yellow......

The old sink sat on a fake wooden countertop.

By the way, only the cold water was working
in the end.

The plumber hard at work.

We had a very limited time frame.

Our son took over a job poorly done...
the insulation was all wrong,
the electric, sheetrock etc.

He worked so hard and got it done right.

Even the bathtub was set crooked,
so all the tile would have been set crooked too.

And the tile had a box of ten that turned gray after grouting.
I felt really bad for the tile man. That was a job, getting it out
and replaced. Another setback.

Here you can see it taking shape.

And then another setback.
Looks like a spotted hyena to me.
Oh, I was pulling my hair!

Peter worked hard and got it done, right down to the wire.
He gave up every free minute, and with two children
this was not easy.

Every time I walked into this bathroom, I saw him giving
so much of himself.

This is our guest bathroom and we were expecting my
brother and sister-in law from Germany.

As they were driving to us from the airport,
hubby and I were cleaning the tub and floor tiles.

But besides a few little things, we got it done.

Having my family here was fun and we enjoyed our
time together.
The time went by way too fast!
And this is the bathroom they got to enjoy!

After they left, I had to get to my weed-
overgrown garden, and I am still at it.

A very cold and rainy spring did not help!

So instead of going on my computer in the evening,
I went to bed. Too tired to do anything else.
Now it is back to my old life.
And hopefully I will also get back to doll making and other projects.

I hope you enjoyed the "before" and "after"

Peter, I dedicate this post to you with thanks and gratitude.

Love you lot's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God bless,
Evi
