FALL NEWS

It's been month since my last post.
Life seems to throw us all kinds of curves, some good, some bad.
My eye problems are getting better, hallelujah....
but whenever you feel like you are getting back on track, something else gets thrown your way.
I get a nasty tick bite the beginning of June and have been dealing
with Babesia, a somewhat rare, tick-born illness.
It has been a long haul with fever, myalgia, really feeling unwell, constant tiredness, and weekly blood checks. Finally we are getting somewhere. I have tested negative twice. But we are now testing
again for Lyme, because I still have painful myalgia.
How can a tiny tick...and I mean TINY, create such problems.
The meds were hard to take too. And what I don't understand is the price of the medication Mepron. A 1000.00 dollars for only fourteen days, and multiply this by many weeks.
Even with insurance it is still very hard on the wallet. But you do what you have to do.
Hopefully this will be the end of this saga.

With this said, there also has been some good news:
The magazine with our home featured is out and on the newsstands.

We are in "Vintage Style" Fall/Winter 2014

They did a good job, and the writer "got" me. As some of you will know, this is not always the case.
One very funny thing though....it says "doll makers home", and not a doll to be found.
Oh, there were some dolls in our home, but for whatever reason,
be it that the photographer was a man, or that the magazine opted not to show any, I will never know....
but we all find it somewhat strange.

To house and home......
I am cleaning out everywhere.
We are toying with the idea of putting our house on the market
sometime next year. Because my hubby has ongoing health issues,
the property itself has become too much.
A small piece of property and a home on one floor would be the better choice.
We have to see. Meanwhile I am purging.
My friend Laura is coming soon to help me set up Etsy.
I have so many things to part with from antique children's clothing, to bears, and much more.
That should be interesting. Hope to get on with that in the beginning of the new year.

To some other good news..... I am working on some Fall and Halloween dolls, and will be posting soon.

And now.....a few pictures........

Love this pumpkin....unusual shape.

I am getting in the mood to do a little
Halloween decorating.

And this Harvest moon certainly helps.

So, watch out for some Fall-Halloween
goodies for sale coming soon.

Wishing everyone a beautiful Fall.

God bless,
Evi

  1. Good to see you darlin'.
    You guys get better soon.

I would be downsizing also if the money made sense which it does not for where I live, or where I wish to be ..CA...but having just helped two clients do what you are proposing I can tell you that they are thrilled with their new digs and have far fewer concerns..As for me I am redoing the entire yard to make it simple for this aging body to care for...and I only have a wee yard now as it is, not like you guys! lol
I am also repainting and reflooring for my "last" redo of this place. Already spent 21 years here so it's time :D

I'm going out today and I will look for your mag... Congratulations!

  2. It's so great to hear from you, Evi! Congratulations on your magazine feature, I will certainly look for it. I consider you an artist and I think anyone reading the article will see that. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems. I recently read an article about a woman who tested negative several times for Lyme disease but felt awful for months. She finally saw a specialist who advises that Lyme disease does not show up positive for quite awhile. Food for thought. I hope you feel better soon.

If downsizing is for you, I think you will be happy. I will definitely be visiting your Etsy shop! I think my husband and I are good in our home...it's on the small size. We just have to purge the basement with it's 30 years of junk and dust! ;-)

    Take care, dear friend.

  3. Evi, I'm thrilled to see a post from you, but concerned to read about the health issues from the tick bite. I know nothing of Babesia, but have had two close friends who have suffered through Lyme disease. Glad your are improving, and I pray for continued positive progress and good health.
Congratulations on the article. I will search out this magazine as I'd much enjoy seeing a feature on you and your home. I know your new creations will be charming. You are an amazing artist!
    Best wishes………Sarah

  5. Good wishes from the U K. Hopefully things will get better for you and your husband soon. I have missed seeing your wonderful pictures on your blog. I didn't seem to have received your July blog and have just caught up. I was so sorry to see the devastation in your garden. It must have been such a lot of hard work clearing it up. I shall look forward to your Etsy shop.
    Best wishes. Jacky

You have had so many worries with your health and your husbonds, too- I`m happy for you, it seems to go better , and hopefully the tick have not given you Lyme , (I have to google it to see what it is in Danish ) . The magazine pages showing your beautiful home are gorgeous dear, ...also I have wondered why there was not a single doll :-)

  9. Hi Evi!
So sorry to hear of your illness but glad you are on the mend! Jim got a tick bite late this summer, big ol' bullseye and was treated for Lyme and will have to be periodically blood tested. Always something! Congrats on your magazine feature, I can't wait to get a copy!
    Happy Autumn!!
