I am almost ready for what is actually my favorite
time of the year........the Christmas season.
Between not feeling well on and off for a few weeks,
and this terrible tragedy in Newtown,
I have just not been in the mood.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected
by this horrendous event.
I truly do not understand why this is happening
over and over again.
Something needs to change, and fast.
So, after walking around here depressed,
I am going to pull myself together,
and try to make this home feel and look like Christmas
for my family, my friends, and for me.
I have spend some time decorating, contemplating
and tweaking.
Here is a peek of what is happening at our house.
Take a little tour......
This year I fell in love with owls.
We hear them sometimes at night in the summer month.
We finally got the Christmas tree up last weekend.
When we visited my friend Paula in October, I admired
a star she had made from an old carpenters ruler.
So when I went antiquing a while ago I hit the mother load.
Thank you Paula for the inspiration.
I bought this small Santa many moons ago.
Love him.
Hate to part with Bliss, but she has found a nice new home.
My little rabbit has quite a job to do hauling these little sheep.
A lot of glitter snuck into the house,
even on the kitchen tree.
See what I mean about the ruler stars.
Thank God I only found five.....
We have been having strange weather.
Today was no exception.....lots of fog,
and of course rain ........ again.
Better than snow!!!!!
Somehow it has been matching my mood.
No Christmas decoration would be complete in
our home without my snow family.
LOVE them!
This year I found these birds in Target,
(last year I cut some out from music sheets)
So, nine of them are in the entrance foyer.
Love, love birds.
Funny that I want them inside the house too.
We are always feeding them outside, and living
in the woods, we have many different species.
Done a little tweaking.....
What would Christmas be without my red Santa
I made many years ago.
See how foggy it is.
I was going to go out with my friend Laura today,
but I HATE to drive in the fog.
Had one very, very bad experience....
My stocking addiction....
I can never have enough it seems....
My color scheme this year is snow and ice.....
with a little "fire" thrown in,
hence the white, silver and a little bit of red.
These strike me as funny.
See the real thing every day.
Love that you can see this while dining.
Soon it is time for the "big guy" to come.
I know you all have been good, so nothing
but nice things for you all.
I'll try for one more post before the big day.
But if I don't get to it,
I wish you the merriest of holidays,
filled with love for and from your family and friends.
Blessings to you all,
Evi
Hello my dear friend. I hope you start to feel better soon. I think most of us are feeling sad and feeing guilty cause we will have Christmas to look forward to. Evi, I found you from 52 FLEA and am delighted to know more about the artist behind the Santas with the expressive faces.
ReplyDeleteI toured 52 FLEA's blog about your Valentine 2012 party and was smitten by all your beautiful decor, food, and gifts to each other. I left a comment on 52 FLEA that I would love to be invited to a party at your house! :) I only live a little from you...Texas...:) I will be content attending your lovely parties through photos.
I would love to PIN some of your vignettes both from 52 FLEA and the ruler star from this post.
